The authors if the project wrote in their application: "As our country moves toward democracy, youth groups are very important for our future. Most of youth in Matupi [area] are very poor in [understanding] leadership. Through this training they could be able [to learn how] to choose the right leader for 2015 elections."

The two day event will bring together selected youth leaders from the remote Matupi area of Chin state (Burma). Experienced speakers will discuss principles of democracy, principles of democratic leadership and the role that young people can play in the democratic transition of Burma. Additionally, the event will provide an opportunity for the youth to network and to learn about educational and development projects organized in Chin state.
