Details
Learning English is very popular among children in the Chin state of Burma. Increasingly, it is also a great investment in future employment, as opportunities expand in tourism industry, international businesses and non-profit organizations. However, teachers in the area were often trained only in outdated language education methods based on memorization and theoretical study of grammar. The Community Development Organization has therefore decided to bring in experienced educators to train local primary school teachers in new methods of language instruction. Total of 35 teachers will be trained in two phases of the project. In just one year after the training, these teachers will reach 700 local children.
